A Great Weekend!

Seattle area jazz fans, rev up your engines! We’ve got a big weekend coming up with two GREAT events that are sure to delight and satisfy! Read on.

The North Bend Jazz Walk takes place on Saturday, September 8, 2012.  Beautiful downtown North Bend is all about jazz this Saturday night. One cover gets you into six venues and the performance line-up is very tasty indeed. Featured acts include:

The Kelly Eisenhour Quartet with Alexey Nikolev

Chris Belisle-Chi & Chris Symer with Leah Stillwell

Milo Peterson and Geoff Cooke with Diana Page and yours truly

The Jazz Patriots &  Andrews Sisters Tribute with Matt Wenman

Carolyn Graye & Paul Green

The Jay Thomas Quartet with Aria Prame and Tracy Knoop

The Janette West Group

Future Jazz Heads

And many more…..

Proceeds from the walk go to the Boxley’s Music Fund, which supports live jazz performances and music education for the Greater Snoqualmie Valley.  Advanced tickets are discounted and can be purchased online at: http://www.northbendjazzwalk.com/jazzwalk/tickets.espx.

This is a great way to spend a summer evening. Please come out and support this very cool new event!

Coming up this Sunday is the Ninth Annual Pony Boy Jazz Picnic at the Magnuson Park Amphitheatre. This event is a fun-filled soiree featuring artists from the Pony Boy label and musicians from the Seattle jazz community. It’s a wonderful day to kick back with friends, enjoy a picnic and listen to swingin’ music from some of the best jazzers in the Northwest. I’m tickled to be part of the line-up and will be performing as part of the “Vocalists Hour of Power.”  The picnic runs from noon to 5pm. While the event is free, a $10.00 donation to the tip jar gets you discounts on festival merchandise. For more information about the picnic, please visit: http://ponyboyrecords.com/files/festival/jazz_picnic.html. For directions to the park, check out: http://www.cityofseattle.net/parks/magnuson/default.htm.

Before I close this post, I would like to give big shout-outs to Danny Kolke of Boxley’s and the mighty Greg Williamson of Pony Boy. These two have put in a lot of time and effort to make these events happen and a robust “Thank You” is in order. If you see them out and about this weekend, slap them a high five. They deserve it.

So there you have it. It’s a great weekend for jazz fans and it’s gonna to be a ball, folks. I hope you will make it out to one or both of these fine musical events. Our local jazz community is alive and well. Let’s help keep it that way!

Hang out with your friends. Support live music.
