The North City Bistro is the official kickoff for my spring reading series “Weirdo Simpatico. The Happy Hour Tour.” For the months of April and May, I will be appearing at select Happy Hours across the city and reading excerpts from my new book “Weirdo Simpatico: Little Stories for Short Attention Spans.”
The one-bite narratives in this collection − from Roxanne refusing to Friend her grandfather on Facebook to Eugene contemplating home rhinoplasty on his wife –presents a snippet of a larger conundrum and reflects on the more idiosyncratic aspects of human nature. I like to think of these stories as tiny pokes that give the reader a mental double-take and inspire further reflection as to the who, the what and the why.
The reading will feature excerpts from the book with bassist Paul Gabrielson providing a musical backdrop to the stories. Free!
