Hello people.
January has roared in with a bang, and I have some cool gigs to tell you about!
Boxley’s
Thursday, January 13, 2011- 7:00pm
Duo performance with Randy Halberstadt on piano
Boxley’s has all the elements that make it a great place for live jazz: a big, ol’ Steinway piano, a great sound system, upscale but comfortable décor, very tasty food and cheerful service. It’s truly a terrific place to enjoy a slow, relaxed dinner and take in a little live music. Although it’s in North Bend, don’t let that dissuade you; it’s well worth the trek.
Randy and I are back for another duo performance. We’ll horse around with some standards, swing a little here and there and, of course, play a few tunes off of my new CD. Gigs at Boxley’s are always a blast, and it would be great to see more friends discover this fab nightspot.
House Concert in Seward Park
Saturday, January 15, 2011- 7:00pm (music starts at 7:30pm)
$15.00
Katy Bourne Quartet
About 5-6 years ago, Jim and Sally Olson tore down their house to its foundation and started from scratch. Their goal was to build a roomy, light-filled home with a large central living area that could accommodate house concerts. They readily accomplished this. This beautiful house, which sits on Lake Washington, is the site of some of the most happening music in south Seattle. The concerts are eclectic; there’s everything from singer-songwriters to bluegrass to funk. Jim and Sally are the consummate hosts and the hang is friendly and casual. I am honored to be a part of this series!
Joining me for this concert will be the usual stalwart crew: Randy Halberstadt on piano, Clipper Anderson on bass and Steve Korn on drums. If you are interested in attending this show, there are still some seats left. Shoot me an email!
Tula’s
Monday, January 24, 2011- 7:30pm
Katy Bourne Quartet
$10.00
Tula’s possesses a certain allure that I can’t exactly put my finger on, but it is easily my favorite place in town to sing. I guess it’s because I’ve spent many hours in that dark, well-worn room, singing at jams, hanging out at shows and vibing on the great community of friends there. It feels like home to me, and I’m always thrilled to gig there. Randy, Clipper and Steve will also be playing with me for this performance. Although it’s a Monday night, it would warm our hearts to see lots of bodies in the seats. Come on out and check out the show!

One other tidbit…….
Writer for Hire
In addition to being a chick singer, I’m also a geeky writer type. If you haven’t done so already, I would like to invite you to take a peek at my “Writer for Hire” page. If you need something written, I’m your woman. Be it a sparkling bio for your new website, a hard-hitting ransom note that means business, a news release about your next great gig or a tasty online dating profile, I can write it. I’m speedy and thorough. My rates are fair and reasonable. Hit me up!
The New Year has been fun and busy so far. Between the kooky madness of the Seahawks in the playoffs, the titillating possibility of a “major snow event” and a chance to make music with some of my favorite peeps, I’m ants- in- my- pants excited. If January is any indicator, we’re going to have a fantastic year!
