My Wish List: Seahawks vs 49ers (round 2)

Week 15. Seahawks vs. 49ers, round two. Alrighty then. Quarterback injuries notwitstanding, the 49ers have been firing on all cylinders this season. With a 9-4 record, they currently hold the top spot in the NFC West. They’ve got a mean and nasty defense, arguably the best in the league. They also have an extremely strong running game,  a bane of the Seahawks front seven. Because of the aforementioned injuries, Brock Purdy has taken the reins as signal caller for the team. However, he too is…

Seahawks vs Panthers: Run Blues

Seahawks 24- Panthers 30 Pull out your whiskey. Tune up your guitar. Shore up your tender hearts and let the hounds moan. The Seattle Seahawks got the blues, straight up. More specifically, the run blues. This score might suggest a closer contest than it really was. Pay it no mind. I follow a lot of different sports writers, football analysts and Seahawks podcasters. Usually, in the evening after a game and the next morning, I pour over their takes and commentaries. Interestingly, several of my…

My Wish List: Seahawks vs Panthers

The Seahawks return home this week to take on the Carolina Panthers at Lumen Field. I feel a little uneasy about this one. It probably doesn’t help that I’ve spent a lot of time this week studying up on the problems with the Seattle run defense. More on  that later. Coming into Week 14, the Panthers are at 4-8. They have a smashmouth run game, aggressive in-your-face pounding that can exhaust a defense.  Since Christian McCaffrey was traded off to the 49ers, running back…

Seahawks vs Rams: Half Empty, Half Full

Photo- Fox Sports   The Seahawks beat the Rams 27-23 in a gnarly nail biter yesterday at So-Fi Stadium. While I was relieved for the win, I was also a little disgruntled. The Rams came into yesterday’s game at 3-8, playing with a backup quarterback and missing several of the super stars who were key to the Super Bowl victory last February. My shortsighted brain thought the Hawks would have an easier time of it. But despite the disadvantages going in, the Rams were as…

My Wish List: Seahawks vs Rams

We enter Week 13 with adjusted expectations and plenty of questions. We’ve seen a couple different versions of the Seahawks now. The team of the first five weeks was the mediocre to bad we’d initially anticipated. And then, much to our surprise and delight, something magical transpired, at least for four weeks. For four wonderful games, we saw a balanced and powerful team that was kicking ass on both sides of the ball. But then, we witnessed an inexplicable regression, especially with the defense.…

Seahawks vs Raiders: Anger

Seahawks 34- Raiders 40, in overtime. Throughout the years of being a Seahawks fan, I’ve experienced a gamut of emotions: excitement, disappointment, anxiety, joy and despair to name a few. The one thing I’ve never felt deeply is anger or, more specifically, anger at the team.  But last night, as I watched Josh Jacobs blast down the field on an 86-yard touchdown run to win the game in overtime, anger is what bubbled up inside. While there is plenty to be upset about in this…

My Wish List: Seahawks vs Raiders

Week Twelve: Seahawks vs Raiders Ahoy, 12's!  Hopefully, everyone made it through the bye week intact. A week without the Hawks is a tough go indeed. I see you. I get you. I feel you. Luckily, we had the distraction of Thanksgiving to help push us through these last few days. I hope that eating, cleaning up, napping and eating again helped to ease the pain. The Seahawks are back home this week, welcoming the Raiders to Lumen Field. The Raiders are currently sitting at…

Seahawks vs Buccaneers: Schooled

Photo-Seattle Times The Seahawks lost to the Buccaneers 21-16 in a soul crushing stumble at Allianz Arena in Munich. The Bucs beat the Hawks across the board. They shut down the run game completely, with a defense that imposed its will on a hapless Seattle o-line and jammed up Kenneth Walker III all day. Conversely, their run game dominated, with Leaonard Fournette and Rachaad White pounding down the field to the tune of 162 yards. While Tom Brady had his way with the Seahawks secondary,…

Meine Wunschlite: Seahawks vs Buccaneers

Put on your lederhosen and hoist your stein! Seahawks vs Buccaneers in Munich! Let’s go! “Jolly” is not typically a word found in football parlance, at least not mine. Yet, it feels like the most fitting term for this international football event. The locale, the fans, the team and the cheers all culminate in a vibe that is distinctively jolly indeed. I’m rolling with that. Before jumping into my wish list- or, in a nod to the occasion, meine wunschlite- I want to give it…

Seahawks vs Cardinals (round two): Geno’s World

Photo- USA Today I must confess that I spent a good chunk of this game in a low-key funk, especially early on. Kyler Murray was scrambling all over the place. The Hawks defense was missing one tackle after another. An illegal contact penalty on Quandre Diggs robbed Coby Bryant of his first NFL interception.  On the other side of the ball,  the o-line struggled to open anything up, rendering the run game sluggish. While good stuff was happening – a tippy-toe touchdown from DK Metcalf,…
